Point System
Abyss’s new loot system will be a points-based Suicide Kings system, designed to reward attendance and consistency. The rules are as follows.
- Players will gain one point for showing up to a raid on time, and one additional point for remaining in the raid until the scheduled stop time, or until the raid is called, whichever comes first.
- A player who is late for a raid may still join the raid (without receiving the starting point) until their slot has been filled. After that, they will be counted as a no-show, and as a penalty. their points will be reset to zero.
- Grace Rule: Once per calendar month, a player who shows up within five minutes of the start time may still claim the starting point.
- When a piece of epic loot drops, all players who want to spend their accumulated points for the item may express interest. The player who expresses interest with the most spendable points will receive the item. If there is a tie for most spendable points, the players will roll for it.
- When a player receives an epic item, their points are reset to zero.
- Hole Rule: A player with zero spendable points may still win an item. If this happens, their spendable points will temporarily be set at minus one. If they win another item, they will have minus two points, and so on. All negative scores will be reset to zero before the ending point is awarded.
- Karma Rule: A player who wins an item may, at the discretion of the raid leader, be given one point for giving the item to another player, for whom the item would be a larger upgrade. The other player, who must consent to this, will lose all of his or her points as normal.
- In addition to spendable points, we will also be keeping track of total accumulated points, both spent and unspent. There may be incentives for reaching total point thresholds in the future; right now, they are worth only bragging rights.
